ADP National Chairman, Sani told to resign immediately over forged death certificates

The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani, has been asked to resign from the position immediately.

A group, Guardian of Democracy and Development Initiative, also called for his suspension and prosecution.

DAILY POST reported yesterday that the House of Representatives candidate for Nasarawa Constituency, Kano State, in the 2023 general election, Musa Mohammed Ali, demanded a public apology from Sani, and the National Secretary, Victor Fingesi.

Ali also demanded the withdrawal of a letter which was forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which he alleged was attached to a forged death certificate in his name.

According to him, the party chairman and secretary had, prior to the general elections, sent the letter to INEC, notifying the Commission of his replacement, claiming he was dead.

The group, in a press conference addressed by Comrade Danesi Momoh Prince, its convener, in the presence of the candidates whose death certificates were allegedly forged, Muhammad Ali and Nafiu Haruna, demanded that the party Chairman should be prosecuted over forgery and perjury.

The group described the Chairman’s action as criminal, diabolic, selfish, saying he deserves to be sitting in a maximum security prison.

Ali of Nassarawa Local Government Area, Kano State, is said to be the legitimate House of Representatives candidate of the ADP for Nassarawa Federal Constituency, Kano State, before Sani and others allegedly forged a death certificate, proceeded to swear an affidavit and wrote a letter to the INEC requesting his replacement.

The group described the death certificate, with no. No.922227, backed up with an affidavit which was issued on the 28th of October 2022 at Mai Kuluo registration centre, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, as a sham.

The death certificate purported that Ali died at home in Kano.

“We therefore call on the party chairman to immediately resign, failure of which ADP hierarchy should immediately commence the process of his impeachment, arrest, and prosecution,” the group said.

“We will not stop until he is disgracefully sacked as the National Chairman of ADP and prosecuted for his criminal attempt to destroy party democracy and the national political process.”

When contacted, the National Chairman of ADP, YY Sani, did not deny the allegations but said that the party, and not him in person, forged the death certificate.

According to him, “Is [the allegation] against me as a person or as the Chairman of ADP? They’re two different things.”

When he was told that he had been accused of forging the death certificate of some candidates and declaring them dead, he added, “I didn’t do that as a person. It was the party that did that.”

Speaking further, he said, “It’s false. What they’re saying it’s false.”
