Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has called for new strategies to prevent the abduction of students and protect schools in the rural areas.
Sani made the remark in response to the rescue of students abducted from Kuriga area of Kaduna.
Posting on X, the socio-political activist described their rescue as a welcomed development.
According to Sani: “The news of the release of Kaduna Students hostages is a welcome development.
“New strategies must be adopted to prevent reoccurrence and protect all schools especially those in rural areas.”
DAILY POST reports that the 287 Kuriga school children recently abducted by the bandits in Kaduna State have regained their freedom.
This was disclosed by Governor Uba Sani in the early hours of Sunday.
Recall that bandits terrorizing the state had invaded LEA Primary School Kuriga and Junior Secondary School, Kuriga town, in Chikun Local Government Area of the state on March 7 and whisked away 287 students including a principal, Abubakar Isah to an unknown destination.
The assailants had demanded for N1 billion ransom as the only condition for the release of the children.
It was unclear if the children were rescued by the security operatives or ransom was paid.
