Adamawa govt votes N1.6bn for 25 security vehicles

The Adamawa State Government has approved N1.6 billion to buy 25 new Innoson pickup vans for security agencies.

Approval for the vans was given on Wednesday at the 18th State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in the Council Chambers of the Government House, Yola.

The state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr Iliya James, who spoke to newsmen after the meeting, said the approval aims to reinforce security agencies in addressing insecurity within the state.

He said a lot had been done these past years to drastically bring down crime but that pockets of crime are still committed, hence the government’s decision to further mobilise the security agencies.

The state Commissioner of Livestock Development, Tijjani Maksha, who also spoke to the media after the SEC meeting, reported an outbreak of contagious livestock diseases in some local government areas.

Maksha said steps had been taken to mitigate the spread, including sending samples for testing to a laboratory in Jos.
