Adamawa govt approves N836m for reconstruction of 44km road

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved the reconstruction of a 44km road stretching from the permanent orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Damare, near the state capital, Yola, to Borong, a major community in Demsa local government area.

The feeder road which runs through two LGAs: Girei and Demsa, is to be reconstructed with the sum of N836 million.

The State Commissioner of Education, Dr Umar Pella, made the disclosures to newsmen shortly after a meeting of the State Executive Council, SEC, which was held on Wednesday in the Government House, Yola.

Pella said that the project, awarded to Hydro Source and Resource Nigeria Limited, is to be completed within the next 12 months.

The Wednesday’s SEC meeting which was presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri also approved over N117 million as variation contract for the construction of a modern laboratory at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.

Pella who said the project was initially awarded at over N578 million, explained that the variation is to cover increase in cost of building materials.
