The State Working Committee, SWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State has passed a vote of confidence in the chairman of the party in the state, Alwell Asiforo Okere, while vowing to hold the governor of the state accountable.
The vote was passed by the SWC members during an emergency meeting in Umuahia, where issues affecting the party were discussed.
A press statement signed and released by Amah Abraham, the Vice Chairman and acting Publicity Secretary of Abia PDP, charged its members to remain resolute and commit themselves to promoting the ideals and integrity of the party. The statement also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the respect and advancement of good governance.
According to the statement: ” The party commits itself to the support and defence of the rule of law always. Promote the best ideals of a shadow government by continuously holding the Alex Otti-led administration accountable, and ensure that it is open and transparent in the conduct of the Abia government’s business.
“The SWC trusts the ability of the National Working Committee, NWC of the party to conduct credible, free and fair congresses across the states and FCT.”
The committee further appreciated the party’s National Working Committee’s decision to postpone the ward congresses due to operational reasons.
