The Secretary General Isuikwuato Development Union, Akabueze Ndukwe has attributed the deplorable conditions of Isuikwuato General Hospital to alleged disappearance of 125KVA power generating set and some ‘unserviceable ‘ vehicles from the hospital.
Ndukwe, who was being cross-examined by the Counsel to Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the Recovery of Government Properties and Funds, Enobong Okafor, on the auction sales of ‘unserviceable vehicles’ and the missing 125KVA Generator, said that he observed the missing items in 2020 and reported the matter to the stakeholders of Isuikwuato LGA.
He said that the 125KVA Generator Set was in a good condition before it was removed from the premises of the Hospital, saying that the former administrative officer incharge of Isuikwuato LGA Mr Chukwudi Ujah, and Hospital Management Board (HMB) can give account of the whereabouts of the missing items.
The Judiciary Panel also brought for hearing, the case filed by some sacked lecturers and staff of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba against the acting Rector Mrs Chidinma Ndukwe.
In a related development, the Abia State Judicial Panel of Enquiry on Recovery of Government Properties and Funds has visited some sites of road contracts awarded by former Governor of the State, Okezie Ikpeazu, in his Obingwa LGA and in Aba.
During the visit, Panel said it discovered that one of the roads awarded by the former Governor, Ikpeazu was allegedly commissioned even when jobs were not completed by the contractor.
Also, the panel said it discovered discovered some roads with partial stone base and drainage systems during its visit.
