Abia State Government has confirmed reports that two commissioners in the cabinet of Governor Alex Otti have resigned.
According to the state government, the former commissioners, Professor Monica Ironkwe of Ministry of Agriculture and Mr Chima Oriaku of Ministry of Science and Technology, tendered their letters of resignation to the governor.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, said Otti thanked the former commissioners “for their service and sacrifice to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours”.
The resignation of the two commissioners sparked reactions in the social media, with some reports claiming that the two officials were sacked.
