Abia Govt assures peaceful yuletide, tells criminals to leave state

The Abia State Government has assured of a peaceful Yuletide season in the state.

The Special Adviser on Security Matter to the Governor of Abia State, Naval Commander Macdonald Ubah (rtd), gave the assurance on Friday, noting that the state government has put measures in place to ensure the security of lives and property.

Ubah spoke while interacting with journalists in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

He said, “Governor Alex Otti has given marching orders that he wants this state totally safe in this coming Yuletide.

“If you notice, a lot of people have indicated interest in coming back for this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“As you know, the government flagged off Operation Crush and other security task forces led by officers of the Nigeria police, Army, Navy, Civil Defence Corps, Immigration, the Abia Vigilante Service, etc, who are empowered to tackle any acts of criminality in Abia areas.

“Their operations will continue till after the Yuletide.

“These are measures put in place to make sure that there’s peace in the state.”
