A head teacher, Jalaludeen Zakari, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison by a Bauchi State High Court for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl who was at the school for an admission screening.
The convict was said to have detained the little girl for several hours after the official school hours before assaulting her.
Barrister Dayabu Ayuba, the prosecuting counsel with the State Ministry of Justice, disclosed this during an interview with DAILY POST in Bauchi on Tuesday.
Ayuba said that during the trial, three witnesses, including the victim, testified, leading to the sentencing.
“The sentencing occurred in July of this year after Jalaludeen pleaded with the court for leniency.
“The perpetrator asked his victim to stay back, dismissing all other pupils without providing a reason for her extended stay. While she was left behind, the assailant subjected her to sexual assault, an act equivalent to rape in legal terms,” he said.
