Defence minister, service chiefs visit Plateau over killings

Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, the service chiefs, and other officials visited Plateau State on Sunday over the gruesome attacks on some rural communities in the state.

DAILY POST reports that the worst-affected places by the Christmas Eve attacks were in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin-Ladi local government areas.

More than 200 people were killed, with close to double that figure sustaining different degrees of injuries.

Matawalle, who was accompanied by Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, told Governor Caleb Mutfwang that the visit was on the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

He assured the governor and people of the state of the commitment of the Federal Government towards addressing insecurity in Plateau and Nigeria in general.
