Yobe: Gov Buni signs 2024 finance, appropriation bills into law

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State on Thursday signed the 2024 finance and appropriation bills into law after their passage by the State House of Assembly.

Buni, during the signing ceremony, which took place at WAWA Hall in the Government House Damaturu, noted that it the signing of the budget into law was in conformity with sections 121 (1) and (2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

In his words, Buni said, “I presented the 2024 budget estimate to the Yobe State House of Assembly on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 for deliberations and passage into law.

“We submitted a total of N217,000,000,000.00 to service our capital and recurrent expenditures for the 2024 fiscal year with the Honourable in its wisdom reduced by N50,000,000.00 to make it more realistic, bringing the budget to a total sum of N216,950,000,000.00

The recurrent expenditure now stands at N94,156,000,000.00, while the sum of N122,794,000,000.00 is now approved for capital expenditure as against N122,844,000,000.00 initially allocated to the sector.”

He commended the leadership of the Assembly for its continued support, cooperation and diligence to ensure the timely passage of the 2024 budget to enable his administration hit the new year with great determination and commitment to execute more policies and programmes with speed and success.

“This spirit of teamwork and fellowship will no doubt drive our collective determination, strategic synergy, collaboration and our collective zeal to serve the good people of Yobe State better and with great success,” Buni added.

Recall that the 2024 budget was tagged, “Budget of Consolidation and Economic Recovery.”
