The Ogun Command of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has stressed the need for motorists to obey speed limits so as to reduce crashes on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway during the festive period.
Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr Anthony Uga, gave the advice in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday, in Ota, Ogun.
Uga was reacting to two separate crashes where two persons died on Monday and another two on Tuesday, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, saying that the cause of the two road traffic crashes was speed-related.
“FRSC has been talking and educating motorists that they should drive according to stipulated speed limits.
“They should not take advantage of the fact that the road is okay and smooth to exceed speed limits,” he said.
According to him, some motorists during the Yuletide brought out vehicles that were mechanically deficient.
Noting that FRSC operatives were on the ground to guide motorists, he observed that some were still falling short of the advice given.
He advised motorists to install speed devices in their vehicles to stem road crashes.
