President Bola Tinubu has directed the transfer of the school feeding programme from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to the Ministry of Education.
Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, announced the development on Thursday, during a one-day retreat on ministerial deliverables (2023 – 2027), for all Directors and Chief Executive Officers of all the parastatals under the ministry.
Prof. Tahir said as part of his agenda to solve the growing problems of out-of-school children in the country, the president also re-introduced the school feeding programme in Nigeria basic education to address the learning crisis and the challenges of out-of-school children currently bedeviling the country.
DAILY POST recalls that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had suspended the program after many years of running it.
