Abia Comets Football Club of Umuahia has appointed Tony Ogharanduku as the new Technical Director/ Technical Adviser of the club.
The appointment followed the dismal performances recorded by Abia Comets in the ongoing Nigeria National League, NNL, season, which has seen them occupying the bottom position of the Southern Conference Group A table.
With the appointment of Ogharanduku as the Technical Director /Technical Adviser of the club, the position of Kevin Ejeh, who has only won one out of five matches as the head coach, is now hanging in the balance.
The chairman of the club, Boniface Alozie Uche, while introducing the new Technical Director /Technical Adviser, said Ogharanduku is the right man to take Abia Comets to the next level.
Uche tipped Ogharanduku to turn the fortunes of the club around, judging from his experience in the game.
In a speech after signing his contract, Ogharanduku assured the management, staff and players of Abia Comets that the team would produce good performances under his watch.
He equally thanked the club chairman, Uche, for finding him worthy for the job.
The Delta State-born tactician, who has a CAF B Coaching Licence, previously coached teams like Mighty Jets of Jos, Mees Palace Football Academy, Wikki Tourist as a player/ coach, and also had coaching stints with Enyimba International, FC Taraba and Giwa FC.
Ogharanduku will take charge of the team as they continue preparations ahead of this week’s matchday 6 encounter against Abeokuta Stormers on Friday in Ijebu Ode.
The Umuahia-based NNL club has only won one match, losing 3-0 to Ekiti United, 3-0 to Madiba, 3-0 to Edel United before losing 0-1 to Coal City FC of Enugu last weekend.
