Police arrest fake naval officer over alleged motorcycle theft

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a self-acclaimed naval officer, Ibrahim Adamu, for stealing a motorcycle on the premises of a commercial bank in the Sango Ota area of Ogun State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.

Odutola said the suspect was arrested when an employee of the bank caught him on camera and informed the police officer assigned to the bank, who immediately arrested him.

However, while Adamu was being questioned, he identified himself as a naval officer attached to the NNS Becroft, Apapa, Lagos State.

The PPRO said an investigation was ongoing to ascertain the claims of Adamu and that if found guilty would be prosecuted accordingly.

“On December 12, 2023, at about 1530hrs, an attempted felony was committed in the Sango Ota Division.

“The incident involved the attempted theft of a new Bajaj Boxer motorcycle which was parked within the bank premises. The theft was detected through the CCTV cameras, and Ibrahim Adamu was identified as the suspect.

“Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Sango Ota Division visited the scene and conducted an interrogation.

“During the interrogation, Ibrahim Adamu claimed to be a naval officer attached to the NNS Becroft in Apapa, Lagos State,” Odutola said.
