Nigeria, US strengthen military ties to curb terrorism

The Minister of State for Defence, Muhammed Bello, said Nigeria will strengthen its military bilateral relations with the United States of America to further enhance the fight against terrorism and other organised and sundry crimes in Nigeria.

A statement by the minister’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, indicated that the agreement was reached when Bello paid a visit to US Congresswoman Betty McCollum at the Capitol in Washington.

While highlighting the significance of existing bilateral ties between Nigeria and the US, the minister reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to eradicating terrorism through collaborative efforts.

Betty McCollum, currently the leader of the United States House Committee on Appropriation for Defence, expressed the United States’ commitment to supporting Nigeria in its efforts to combat terrorism and other security threats through intelligence sharing, training, and military hardware production.
