Nigerian female referee, Yemisi Akintoye, has been named among the officials of the 2023 African Women’s Champions League.
Akintoye, a graduate of the University of Lagos is among the 12 referees selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after a one-week pre-tournament course.
CAF confirmed her participation on Monday.
This is the first time she will be officiating in a major tournament in Africa.
Akintoye was badged as a FIFA referee in 2021.
Salma Musaganda of Rwanda, who was the first African woman Referee to officiate at the men’s World Cup is also among the arbiters shortlisted by CAF.
