Ministry collaborates with NiDCOM on Diaspora housing development initiatives

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has stated its willingness to help Diaspora housing and urban development initiatives.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, disclosed this when the Chairperson, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and her team paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

The Ministry, according to Dangiwa, is also dedicated to supporting the NiDCOM’s goal of ensuring that Nigerians in the diaspora can buy homes in Nigeria.

“NiDCOM has over the years championed several initiatives and programmes that are helping our country leverage the massive potential of our diaspora for national development.

“We have over 20 million Nigerians in diaspora remitting an average of over $24bn per annum,” he noted.

The minister also stated that the Federal Housing Authority, FHA, has agreed to develop the Diaspora City Project as part of a Public-Private Partnership involving the FHA, NiDCOM, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

The project occupies around 675 hectares of land in Maitama 2.
