Security forces foil attack, kill four hoodlums in Katsina

A join team of security forces, including operatives of the Katsina Community Watch Corps, on Sunday repelled a bandit attack on Kwari Mai Zurfi in Makera District of Dutsinma Local Government Area, killing four of the hoodlums.

The spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, ASP Abubakr Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident in a statement.

“On December 10th, 2023, at about 0430 hrs, based on credible information, some suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, wielding dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, blocked the Dutsinma-Kankara highway in an attempt to kidnap unsuspecting members of the public.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Area Commander Dutsinma promptly mobilised a joint team of police operatives in conjunction with vigilante members and responded to the scene.

“Upon reaching the scene, the suspected kidnappers opened fire on the operatives, to which the officers valiantly returned and succeeded in neutralizing three (3) members of the gang.

“One Masa’udu Sani, a member of the vigilante, sustained a gunshot wound on his right hand. The injured operative is currently responding to treatment as efforts are underway with a view to arresting other fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds,” the statement said.

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the operatives for their professionalism, teamwork and courage.

He encouraged the officers to sustain their efforts and urged the citizens to continue aiding the Command and other security agencies by sharing important and timely details about criminal activities.
