…says Heritage Polytechnic is one of the best private schools in the country
The proprietor and founder of Heritage Polytechnic, Eket, Dr. Emmanuel Ekott says his proposed “Ekott University” when licensed, would offer programs that align with current industry demands.
He has also stated that the university would offer hands-on training, practical internships, and partnerships with established firms in the engineering, nursing and oil and gas fields to aid the integration of its students into the global market.
Dr. Ekott, spoke Monday, while granting audience to a group of media practitioners under the auspices of Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals who embarked on a site tour of the proposed tertiary institution.
The renowned scholar and educationist says what distinguishes the proposed university from others, is that its programs would stay relevant and responsive to the skills needed in the job market.
“At the proposed Ekott University, we will take off with 3 faculties and 18 courses which include Engineering and Social Sciences and Health Sciences. Currently, of the 14 steps expected before licensing is granted, we are on step 8 and have met all that is required of us. We are hopeful that before the year runs out, we would have gotten all that is left,” he opined.
On employment opportunities that abound in the sector, Dr. Emmanuel Ekott who is a chemical engineer, said his polytechnic currently employs more than 300 persons, stating that the university when opened will triple the current staff strength of the polytechnic.
“We want to create jobs that’s why we are starting with the best possible programs that can be offered in the university system. As we progress, we will incorporate other couses such as Law and Medicine and others,” he added.
He reiterated that just as he has succeeded in making Heritage Polytechnic one of the most sought after in polytechnic education in Nigeria, going by the positive reviews, he will stop at nothing in ensuring that the proposed Ekott University meets the standards that will make it reference point in the country.
