Manchester United want to re-sign their former academy starlet, Angel Gomes next summer, with new manager Ruben Amorim a big fan of the player, according to The Sun.
The 24-year-old came through the ranks with the Red Devils.
Gomes became United’s fourth-youngest player of all-time, when he made his debut at 16 years and 263 days against Crystal Palace in a Premier League game in May 2017.
However, Gomes struggled to nail down a regular place over the next three years, making just 10 appearances in all competitions.
He was eventually released in the summer of 2020.
Gomes signed for Lille on a five-year deal and broke into the England squad earlier this season.
The 24-year-old’s contract with the French side expires at the end of the season and there has been no progress with regards to a fresh deal.
And, according to The Sun, United are planning a swoop for Gomes on a free transfer, with the midfielder viewed as one of their major targets for next summer.
