EPL: New Man City contract blocks Guardiola from leaving if club is relegated

Pep Guardiola’s new contract with Manchester City does not have a break clause, according to the UK Guardian.

This means Guardiola will not leave the Premier League champions even if they are relegated.

There have been speculations about the Spaniard’s future at the Etihad.

But Guardiola is ready to end the rumours, by putting pen to paper on a one-year extension.

The new deal has an option for a further year.

And there is said to be no break clause, which would come into effect should the club be relegated from the top flight, if they are found guilty of financial wrongdoing by an independent commission.

Guardiola previously insisted that he would be more likely to stay if City were hit with a severe punishment, even though the club have repeatedly stressed their innocence and denied the allegations against them.
