Sokoto Govt tasks NLC to submit workers proposal for new minimum wage

The Sokoto State Government has tasked the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to submit its proposal of the new minimum wage.

The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, disclosed this while answering questions from newsmen shortly after a meeting with members of the executive council of the union.

Gobir also disclosed that the move would facilitate the process of harmonisation in the state’s civil service.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Director Press, Deputy Governor’s office, Comrade Garba Mohammed and made available to newsmen in Gusau.

According to the statement, the deputy governor said the state government is committed to the implementation of the new minimum wage for its workforce.

Also commenting, the state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu Jungul, enjoined civil servants to remain calm as all necessary arrangements are being carried out for the Implementation of the new minimum wage.

Jungul assured that the union would forward its proposal table as requested by the state government any time from now.

He commended the state government for showing genuine commitment to the implementation of the new salary scale.
