Ondo Guber: ‘Be calm, steadfast’ – PDP urges supporters

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged its supporters to remain calm and steadfast after the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and incumbent governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was declared winner of the gubernatorial election held on Saturday.

DAILY POST recalls that the PDP had on Sunday alleged widespread vote buying by the APC, which it said was rampant because the ruling party impoverished Nigerians.

The Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, Olayemi Akinwumi, declared Aiyedatiwa the winner of the election on Sunday.

The incumbent governor polled 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival and a former deputy governor of the state, Ajayi Agboola of the PDP, who polled 117,845 votes, more than twice lower than the APC candidate.

In a statement PDP Ondo State Publicity Secretary, PDP, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, on Monday urged all supporters to be calm and remain steadfast as the next line of action will be communicated to them in due course.
