Kwara NSCDC refutes allegations of poor welfare for personnel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command, has refuted allegations of poor welfare for officers.

A statement by the command’s spokesman, Ayoola Michael Shola, in Ilorin on Sunday, described the allegations as misleading and a calculated attempt to undermine the corps and discredit the significant achievements recorded under the leadership of the Commandant-General of the corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, since his assumption of office.

The statement reads in part; “It is worth noting that the Commandant General inherited many of the challenges mentioned in the fabricated publication. However, through his visionary and result-oriented leadership, these issues have been drastically reduced to their barest minimum.

“There is no longer any backlog of promotion arrears, as these issues have been addressed by the Federal Government and are being resolved in phases.

“Peculiar allowances are now reflected monthly in personnel salaries, while the implementation of the new minimum wage has been concluded, with payments set to commence shortly.

“Contrary to the misleading claims, sector officers of the Corps were recently in Abuja for briefings ahead of their new postings, which include all necessary remunerations. Furthermore, the welfare of junior officers has consistently remained a top priority for the Commandant General.

“The Kwara State Command of the NSCDC, under the capable leadership of Commandant Umar Mohammed, views these allegations as baseless and unreflective of the Corps’ operations.

” Investigations are currently underway to identify those responsible for this malicious attempt to tarnish the image of the Corps.

“The Corps strongly warns mischief-makers and unprofessional officers who are acting as tools for criminal elements to desist from such actions aimed at discrediting and maligning the organization,” the statement added.
