APC dismisses recall move against Senator Shehu Buba

The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Bauchi State has refuted reports of a recall attempt against Senator Shehu Buba Umar who represents the Bauchi South Senatorial District.

Addressing journalists on Saturday, the Vice Chairman of the party in Bauchi South, Abdulmumini Kundak, expressed disbelief that constituents who once supported the senator would now consider such a move.

He urged those behind the recall effort to present their grievances openly instead of hiding behind what he termed “unscrupulous politicians” spreading misinformation.

Speaking on Senator Buba’s numerous achievements, Kundak described him as a transformative leader whose work has greatly benefitted the district.

He attributed the recall campaign to “envious” politicians dissatisfied with the senator’s successful efforts to consolidate President Tinubu’s agenda and deliver effective representation.

Kundak also dismissed allegations linking the senator to banditry, urging the public to disregard the recall effort, which he characterised as baseless and lacking substance.

The vice chairman commended the people of Bauchi State for acknowledging Senator Buba’s impactful projects and supporting his leadership, which has earned the approval of security institutions.

He thanked the constituents for distinguishing between genuine leaders and those undermining progress.

Kundak called on the public to reject the recall move and continue backing Senator Shehu Buba’s efforts to advance the region and fulfil President Tinubu’s agenda.

DAILY POST reports that the move to recall the senator may be linked to a rift between Buba and the state governor, Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The governor at the PDP local government election campaign flag-off in the state said PDP would employ President Tinubu as its campaign director come 2027, as the president’s policies are making him unpopular.

The governor had faced backlash from the ruling APC over his remarks, with notable criticism from Senator Buba.

Following Senator Buba’s reaction, the Emirate Council swiftly revoked his traditional title of ‘Majidadin Bauchi’ for allegedly disrespecting the governor.

The rift shows no sign of ending soon, especially with the latest allegations made against the senator.

Governor Mohammed had purportedly petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing Senator Buba of supporting banditry, a development that has further frayed their once cordial relationship.
