Return suspended Osun Chief Judge back to office – APM to Adeleke

The Osun State Chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has asked Governor Ademola Adeleke to return Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, the state’s Chief Judge to her position.

The APM gave this advice following the directive to the Osun State Government by the National Judicial Council, NJC, with regards to maintaining the status quo.

Wale Adebayo, the state’s party chairman who made this known in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday in Osogbo, said the NJC had fulfilled its duties as outlined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said, “The NJC, being the only constitutional body empowered to investigate judiciary officers and take appropriate actions has recognised Justice Ojo, disregarding the Assembly’s resolution.

“Also, the council has called upon the government of Osun to return to the status quo,” Adebayo said.

According to him, the Chief Judge cannot be removed from office or suspended without following due process.

DAILY POST has reported that the NJC refused the request by the governor to appoint Justice David Olayinka Afolabi as acting Chief Judge.
