TCN raises alarm as insecurity threatens facilities

The Shiroro Region of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has raised an alarm over threats to the safety of its transmission lines in some parts of the country.

The General Manager of TCN, Shiroro Region, Maiwada Sarki-Bello, disclosed this while briefing Journalists on the company’s activities in 2023 in Shiroro on Thursday.

He explained that insecurity on the Shiroro-Kaduna 330kV, Shiroro-Katampe 330kV, Gwagwalada 330KV lines, and Shiroro-Regina 132kV lines posed a serious challenge to the company.

Also, TCN identified that it is challenged by the radial nature of the Shiroro-Tegina-Kontagora-Yauri line.

Meanwhile, Bello added that the state of security had improved with the emergence of the current administration.

“Insecurity is our biggest challenge; whenever there is a problem with our lines, we will have to strategise before moving our staff to the lines having a problem, and our partners do not understand that.

“But we commend the Federal Government for being proactive by deploying security personnel to safeguard the entire dam, which has reduced the security threat,” he said.
