Rivers crisis: Fubara to snub Amaewhule-led lawmakers on 2025 budget

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his intention to present the state’s 2025 budget to the four-member faction of the State House of Assembly.

Fubara will be presenting the budget to the House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, and not the 27 lawmakers led by Martin Amaewhule.

He made this known during the official inauguration of two state-of-the-art community town halls, as well as the introduction of a tertiary scholarship and empowerment initiative launched by the Speaker for Akiama and Aganya communities in Bonny Local Government Area on Saturday.

He said, “The Speaker has facilitated the screening of caretaker committee chairmen, expedited executive requests, and will soon play a vital role in enacting the 2025 budget.

“Constituency projects are a testament to elected representatives’ commitment to their people.

“Meanwhile, the 25 former Assembly members who dismissed themselves — have they initiated any projects? Do we see them inspecting or commissioning anything? These are Abuja-based politicians!”
