Police arrest four suspects for stealing diamond earrings, headphones in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four suspects for alleged stealing of diamond earring, headphones and other valuables worth millions of naira in the State.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Umoru Ozigi disclosed this to newsmen while parading the suspects and three others on Wednesday at the Command’s headquarters in Benin City.

Ozigi said the arrest of the suspects followed a complaint received from one Daramola Gabriel that armed robbers invaded his home at the back of One World Hotel, South-lbie, in Etsako West Local Government Area and stole valuables worth millions of Naira.

He added that the complainant while at a park trying to board a vehicle on October 26, 2024 spotted a young man wearing the stolen diamond earring and headphones.

He said, he quickly informed the police, who promptly took action and arrested one Osakpolor Edobor, 20 years old.

The commissioner disclosed that the suspect confessed to having purchased the items from someone at Darisco Hotel, South-Ibie in the locality

He explained that the arrest of the suspect led to the arrest of three others namely Oshoike Malik, 23, Aliu Rabak, 27 and Alor Ojo, 24.

He listed items recovered from the suspects as one locally made cut-to-size gun and some of the stolen items.

Ozigi added that the suspects would be charged to court following the completion of the investigation.
