Nangere Local Government Council in Yobe State has vowed to resolve the issues of farmers’ and herders’ clashes rocking some parts of the area.
The Executive Chairman of the Council, Samaila Musa who made the commitment, said this is in a bid to tackle the lingering problem.
He said the council had constituted a committee saddled with the responsibility of rescuing the grazing reserves in the areas.
“There has been encroachment by the farmers, so the herders cannot pass to the grazing areas, that is the major cause of this conflict in the area.
“Right now, we have constituted a committee to go round the gazetted areas and ensure that those encroached areas are recovered.
“By doing so, the herders can move freely to wherever I think that will reduce the tendency of having clashes”, he said.
Nangere is one of the local government areas that is suffering from the perennial clashes between farmers and herders.
