Police PPROs not helping us – Force PRO on reaction to crimes in Nigeria

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi has admitted that Police Public Relations Officers across the country are not living up to expectations in reacting to crimes.

This confirms complaints by journalists about the PPROs ignoring calls and messages when contacted over crimes and other unwanted occurrences within their various terrains.

Adejobi was reacting to a comment by an X user, @Soj43768211, who urged the Force PRO to “talk to your guys at the local level to treat all issues with honesty”.

The comment followed an incident between a driver and a passenger, who were engaged in a physical fight in Abuja as captured in a viral video.

According to the X user, “We don’t have to tag you in Abuja before we can get justice. We must have total belief in our policemen at the local level”.

Reacting, Adejobi wrote, “I have noticed that some command PPROs too are not helping us. The IGP has approved a conference and workshop for them.

“It will come up in Asaba from the 18th of November 2024. We are focusing on the Police Oversight and Accountability process. We shall get there.

“Also, the IGP will have the Nigeria Police Conference and Retreat for Strategic Managers that is CP and Above as from 25th November 2024. All these issues will be raised and treated for better service delivery in the police”.
