The First Lady of Ebonyi, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, has donated the sum of N2 million to support the ten victims of the gas explosion that occurred at Good Shepherd Catering School, Oruokeonuoha, in the Ebonyi LGA Area of the state.
The governor’s wife donated through her foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons, BERWO, when she paid a sympathy visit to the victims at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, AE-FUTHA.
Speaking during the visit, Mrs Nwifuru said that the two million naira donation was meant to support their treatment in the hospital, while she also promised to take care of the surgical operation of little Miss Anita Ahamefula, who needs surgery but couldn’t afford it.
Mrs Nwifuru empathised with the victims and prayed to God for their speedy recovery and strength for the young school girls to carry on their activities as they suffered 3rd and 4th-degree burns and are in critical condition.
The girls, who are between the ages of 13 and 19, all teenagers, were admitted to the hospital for intensive treatment after the gas explosion incident that occurred on Thursday.
