Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has insisted Manchester City have the edge in the Premier League title race despite their vulnerability to counter-attacks.
The champions remain unbeaten this season but are in second place on the table, one point behind leaders Liverpool after eight games.
Last season’s runners-up, Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-0 at Bournemouth. Mikel Arteta’s side are four points off the top.
The Gunners host Liverpool on Sunday but before that game, City could go top with victory at home over winless Southampton on Saturday.
Carragher feels Pep Guardiola’s men remain favourites to claim a fifth straight Premier League title.
He told Sky Sports News: “I still think Manchester City, without a doubt, have an edge on Liverpool. And probably just Arsenal, maybe.
“You change your mind every week, don’t you on the back of results, but I still think City are the team to beat – and Liverpool and Arsenal, you can flip a coin.”
