Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen has revealed striker Victor Boniface’s major problem amid his lack of goals for the national team.
Eguavoen said Boniface likes to ‘dress and dress’ the ball before deciding to shoot.
Boniface failed to score for the Super Eagles again when they defeated Libya 1-0 in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier on Friday evening at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium in Uyo.
The Bayer Leverkusen star failed to score against Rwanda and Benin Republic last month.
“Boniface is a very good striker, a clinical finisher, but he has struggled in national colors,” Eguavoen said at his post-match press conference after Nigeria defeated Libya.
“Sometimes, these chances don’t come. I remember it happened in Rwanda just like today. When you get half chances, players like Romario would toe-poke the ball.
“But Boniface likes to dress and dress and then defenders recover. If he decides on time, Boniface will score a lot of goals.”
