EPL: Why Man City failed to beat Tottenham – Guardiola reacts to 3-3 draw

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has blamed his players for failing to kill off the game as they drew 3-3 with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

City first took the lead with an own goal and Phil Foden’s strike cancelled out Heung-Min Son’s opener.

Spurs levelled through Giovanni Lo Celso, but the Premier League champions took the lead again as Jack Grealish converted a low cross.

Guardiola’s men looked as if they were going to take all three points until Dejan Kulusevski’s late header.

The City boss, speaking after the game, said: “Unfortunately, against Liverpool as well, this happens [City do not kill the game]. This was a moment where we get to see the team, how they react, how we step forward. It was a top performance again against a top, top team.

“Second half, Spurs stepped forward, a little higher up the pitch. But when you concede just three or four chances to them, of course, they have important absences but even with that, they get the result. But yeah, it is what it is.”
