Maiduguri floods: Nigerian Govt orders integrity tests on dams ‘to avert future disasters’

President Bola Tinubu has ordered that integrity tests be carried out on all dams in the country to prevent future disasters.

This comes after the Alau Dam in Maiduguri cracked on September 10, leading to severe flooding in the state.

The flood displaced over one million people who had to seek shelter in different Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps.
