The All Progressives Congress, APC, has appreciated the people of Edo State for voting for its governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo.
On Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Okpebholo of APC winner of the Edo State gubernatorial election.
Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo scored 247,274.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, said APC won 11 out of the 18 local government areas of the state.
APC spokesman, Felix Morka, in a statement posted on APC’s X page, said: “Senator Monday Okpebholo’s @m_akpakomiza well-deserved victory in the keenly contested election is an attestation that your message of hope and restoration resonated with the good people of Edo State.
“We are deeply thankful to the Edo electorates for standing firm in support of our great party and voting decisively for our candidate. We are confident that Okpebholo’s leadership will usher in a new era of peace, people-centered development and prosperity for the state.”
