Education cannot thrive without security – Katsina Gov Radda

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has asserted that education cannot thrive without security.

The governor spoke during the 7th and 8th Combined Convocation Ceremony of Federal University Dutsinma, on Saturday.

Radda underscored the crucial link between security and meaningful education, stating unequivocally, “There cannot be any meaningful education without security.”

He expressed deep concerns over the impact of banditry on schools, a development which has led to disruptions and closures, hindering students’ learning opportunities.

In light of these challenges, Radda noted that his administration has implemented strategic measures to fortify security in schools.

According to him, the establishment of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of educational institutions across the state.

Radda said, “There is no education without security. Many of our frontline local governments have had their schools closed due to banditry and in some cases, schools have become a den for bandits.

” This is why we have established the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to fight insecurity and create a foundation for our youth to learn and thrive.

“When we said our focus is on building the future of our people, we meant it. All the actions we have embarked upon as government is designed to lay the foundations for a brighter future for the people of Katsina.”

On the issue of out-of-school children, Radda outlined plans to reintegrate them into formal education by collaborating with partners and religious institutions to provide essential academic tools and foster inclusivity within the educational system.
