NNPP ex-guber candidate, Ukpai, other party members join LP in Abia

The Governorship Candidate and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Abia State during the 2023 general elections, Ukpai Iro Ukpai and his running mate, Chiedozie Josiah have resigned from the party and joined the Labour Party (LP).

They made the announcement at the country home of Governor Alex Otti, at Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA of Abia on Saturday.

Also, many top members of the party, including David Urum and other former candidates of the Party during the 2023 polls, joined the LP during the visit.

Speaking on their reason for dumping their party, Ukpai said they were motivated to join the LP because of what he described as developmental strides of Labour Party administration of Governor Otti.

The new LP members were presented with the LP flags.

But speaking on the development, a top member of NNPP in Abia, Mr Bright Ulonwa said that the party will remain stronger despite the exit of Ukpai Iro and his supporters.

“The exit of a few persons cannot shake the foundation of the party in the Abia State as we will even be stronger than before”, Ulonwa said.
