Kwara approves 2024/2025 academic calendar for schools

The Kwara State Government has approved the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session for all primary and secondary schools, both public and private, across the state.

This was announced in a statement signed by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Peter Amogbonjaye.

The statement explained that the approved schedule outlines the resumption dates, midterm breaks, and closing dates for each term, ensuring a standardized academic structure for the upcoming year.

The approved academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session indicates that the resumption for the first term will commence on September 17, 2024, with the midterm break fixed for October 31, 2024, while the closing date is scheduled for December 13, 2024.

Holidays have been fixed from December 16, 2024, to January 3, 2025, lasting three weeks.

The resumption date for the second term has been fixed for January 6, 2025, while the midterm break will begin on February 20 and end on February 21, 2025, with the closing date scheduled for April 4, 2025, lasting 13 weeks. Holidays will last three weeks from April 7, 2025, to April 25, 2025.

The third term resumption date is fixed for April 28, 2025, while the midterm break is scheduled for June 5 – 6, 2025.

The closing date for the third term is July 25, 2025, lasting 13 weeks, with holidays spanning seven weeks from July 28 to September 12, 2025.

For the 2025/2026 academic session, the first term begins on September 15, 2025, with the midterm break fixed for October 30 – 31, 2025. The closing date will be December 12, 2025, and holidays fixed for three weeks from December 15, 2025, to January 2, 2026.

The statement further emphasised that all public and private schools in the state are expected to strictly adhere to the approved academic calendar, as any school found violating it will face appropriate sanctions.

Boarders are required to resume on the Sunday preceding the resumption date for each term, and all national and public holidays must be observed accordingly, the statement added.
