Mafa massacre: Lawmakers task Yobe govt to intensify efforts in protecting lives

Yobe State House of Assembly has tasked the State Government to collaborate with security agencies to intensify efforts in protecting the lives and property of its citizens.

Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon. Ciroma Buba Mashio gave the charge while reacting to the recent killing of about 100 people in Mafa village of Tarmuwa local government area.

He gave the charge during a plenary session on Tuesday on behalf of the entire State House of Assembly.

The State Chief Lawmaker, while condemning the act violence against innocent citizens, also condoled with the people of Mafa village over the tragic incident.

“The House also calls on the State Government through its relevant agencies and other well-meaning Nigerians to assist and come to the rescue of the people of the area by assisting the affected community with the means of livelihood to alleviate their sufferings”, the Speaker urged.

Recall that on 1st September, 2024, ISWAP terrorists invaded the Mafa community in Tarmuwa LGA of Yobe State, killing many people.

The tragic incident had generated wider condemnation from within and outside the state.
