EPL: He asked for my shirt last season – Haaland hits back at Chelsea star over mockery song

Manchester City star man, Erling Haaland has lambasted Chelsea defender, Marc Cucurella after City’s 2-0 win over the Blues in their 2024-25 season opener on Sunday.

Halland was responding to the dig aimed at him by Cucurella during the Euro 2024, calling the Spaniard ‘a funny man.’

The striker was amused by the defender’s infamous dig at him at the continental showpiece, especially as the Chelsea man had asked for his (Haaland) shirt last season.

“Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt … and this summer he sings a song about me,” the striker told reporters after helping City beat Chelsea in their Premier League opener.

Cucurella sang during Spain’s Euro 2024 victory celebrations and featured a chant of Haaland’s name and a cheeky dig at the Norwegian.

The lyrics of the song said, “Cucu cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu cucu-rella he drinks Estrella, Haaland you’d better tremble because Cucurella is coming!.”
