Barau, Musa, Northern Senators celebrate ex- Military President, Babangida at 83

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin; Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Sani Musa and the Northern Senators Forum, have rejoiced with the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on his 83rd birthday.

In separate statements released in Abuja, they described Babangida, who was born in Minna, Niger State, on August 17, 1941, and ruled from August 27, 1985, to August 26, 1993, as an elder statesman.

According to Barau in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the former military leader played a significant role in advancing the country’s infrastructure, adding that his legacy projects would continue to benefit the Nigerian masses.

“He is one of our elder statesmen who played a significant role in fast-tracking the development of our beloved country. On the occasion of his 83rd birthday, I pray Allah SWT grants him good health and strength so that we can continue to draw from his wealth of knowledge, wisdom and experience,” he said.

In his own, Senator Musa described the former military leader’s legacies as enduring, pointing out that his achievements in office contributed to national growth and development

The lawmaker, who represents Niger East Senatorial District on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the National Assembly, wishes the former number one citizen many more years in good health.
“Wishing former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida a very happy 83rd birthday. His strides and accomplishments over the years stand as a testament to the enduring impact of his leadership.

“May this milestone bring reflection on the journey that has shaped Nigeria and a celebration of a legacy marked by significant achievements and contributions to the nation. Here’s to many more years of health and wisdom,” he stated.
Similarly, the Northern Senators Forum, chaired by Senator AbdulAziz Musa Yar’Adua described Babangida as a true statesman whose “selfless service to our great nation has left an indelible mark on our history.”

” Your vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria led to the creation of 11 new states, promoting true federalism and development across the country.

“Your contributions to the growth of our nation are countless, from the development of the federal capital territory, Abuja, to the construction of the iconic Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, then the longest bridge in Africa.

“As we celebrate your life and legacy, we wish you long life, good health, and continued wisdom. May your birthday be filled with joy, love, and cherished moments with family and friends. Thank you for your tireless efforts in building a stronger, more united Nigeria,” the Forum stated.
