2024 budget: ‘Don’t spend N3.2trn security fund on frivolities’ – Sani warns Tinubu

Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has warned the Bola Tinubu administration against spending the N3.2 trillion budgeted for security and defence on frivolities.

According to the former lawmaker who was active in the 8th National Assembly, this has been the case with previous budgets, with money being looted.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central senatorial district, was commenting on the N27.5 trillion 2024 budget submitted by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.

DAILY POST understands that the sum of N3.2 trillion was set out for security and defence in the budget.

“In the past, trillions were budgeted for defence and security but ended up being looted, and many soldiers complained of lack of food, weapons, and equipment, and their welfare generally neglected,” Sani wrote on X.

“The N3.2 trillion budgeted for security in 2024 should be mindful of this. Defence and security budgets should not be wasted on building event centres, hotels, and shopping malls while terrorists are killing people every day in the country,” he warned.
