President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has posited that food inflation is declining.
Onanuga stated that the prices of yam, tomatoes and other foodstuffs are drastically reducing.
Posting on X, he wrote: “Food inflation is coming down as prices of yam, tomatoes decline massively.”
He was reacting to a report that the price of a basket of tomatoes has dropped.
The report said a big basket of tomatoes in Ketu market is currently selling for about N55,000 to N60,000 — down from an average of N150,000 a few months ago.
He said a large basket of habanero pepper (rodo) is now selling for an average of N25,000, compared to N55,000 at the peak of the price surge.
