Nigerian champions, Edo Queens started their campaign at the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers on a winning note by thrashing AS Garde of Niger Republic 5-0.
Emem Essien started the rout with a good finish in the 35th minute.
Captain Suliat Abideeen added the second from the penalty spot late in the first half.
Edo Queens scored three more goals in the second half through Moses Esther and Emem Essien.
The other game in the group between Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies and AS Etincelle of Burkina Faso ended in a 0-0 draw.
Edo Queens top the group with three points, with Hasaacas Ladies and AS Etincelle on one point each.
Moses Adukwu’s side will face Hasaacas Ladies in their next game.
