Protest: Jigawa relaxes curfew on Dutse, Kazaure, Gumel, others

The Jigawa State Government has relaxed the curfew in eight local governments where looting and destruction occurred during the End Bad Governance protest.

State Commissioner of Information, Youth Support, and Culture, Hon Sagir Musa, disclosed this after a security meeting chaired by Governor Umar Namadi.

He stated that the curfew has been adjusted from 05:00 hours to 21:00 hours (5 a.m. to 9 p.m.) in the affected local government areas.

The areas include Dutse, Kazaure, Gumel, Hadejia, Kiyawa, Birnin Kudu, Babura, and Roni LGAs.

Mr Sagir said the decision was made following a review of the security situation in the affected local governments.

DAILY POST reported that the End Bad Governance protest had escalated into violence in eight local governments, resulting in the death of two persons, the destruction of the APC headquarters and other public buildings, as well as the looting of properties.
