The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has vowed to stem the tide of the illegal proliferation of small arms and small weapons in the country.
Jigawa State Commandant of NSCDC, Muhammad Danjuma, stated this when he received the Zonal Coordinator, Northwest Geopolitical Zone of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, Air Vice Marshal Haruna Umar Mohammed (retd).
The NSCDC commandant promised to deploy personnel to borders to checkmate illegal activities capable of jeopardising the relative peace of the state and the nation.
Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Haruna Mohammed (retd) said the visit was to acquaint the NSCDC boss with the activities of the Centre and to seek continuous support and collaboration in the onerous task of ridding the nation of the menace of the proliferation of illicit small arms and light weapons.
