Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested criminals who murdered a Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DSP), Sunday Okoebor, in Asaba, Delta
State.
Colonel lbrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff, 63 Brigade Headquarters, Asaba, while parading the suspects, said his men received information about an operation by the gang in the Koka area of the city and mobilised to the scene.
According to him, his men were joined by operatives of the Police “Operation Hawk” who exchanged fire with the criminals, during which one Aminu shot the DSP at close range and he died on the spot.
Two of the criminals escaped with pomp actions.
“The soldiers, again mobilized to the criminals hideout early in the morning where 125 others were arrested and out of which eight of them were identified by residents as those who have been robbing them of their properties and terrorizing their areas.
“We incapacitated two, two escaped and we were able to arrest additional six. We also arrested 125 at their hideouts out of which eight were identified as robbers.
“We are going to hand them over to the police. We are only doing this “Operation Still Water” to ensure safe environment particularly this ember months, to maintain peace” Col Gambari stated.
Items recovered from the suspects include pistols, laptops, jewelries, phones, and other electronic gadgets.
